What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a modern treatment system for various types of malocclusion (tooth misalignment). Like braces, Invisalign pushes your teeth into more visually appealing and functional positions over several months. However, it works in a completely different way.While braces rely on a network of brackets attached to the teeth, wires, and rubber or metal bands, Invisalign uses clear aligners designed to fit over the contours of your teeth. Each aligner pushes your teeth closer toward the end result.

You change aligners every one or two weeks. You will need to wear the aligners for at least 20-22 hours a day.During the planning process for Invisalign at Smyl Manatee, Dr. Patel uses a smile simulator to show you what your teeth will look like when you’re done with treatment. He uses an intraoral scanner to make aligners that fit perfectly.

What can Invisalign treat?

It also helps you avoid oral health issues like cavities that can complicate or prolong your orthodontic treatment. Dr. Patel tells you everything you need to know about aligner care while using Invisalign. You should:
⦿ Remove the aligners to brush your teeth, including after every meal
⦿ Remove the aligners to eat, drink, and chew gumAvoid smoking
⦿ Find a safe place for your aligners when you’re not wearing them
⦿ Clean your aligners with a cleaning kit or a toothbrush and paste
